Terrarium Building Workshop

Your team will design and build their own miniature ecosystem in glass. We'll guide them through layering soil, placing plants, and adding decorative elements to create something beautiful. Each person leaves with a living terrarium that'll sit on their desk and remind them of a great day with their team.

We use large quality glass vessels, carefully selected plants that work together, and our signature soil blend that keeps everything thriving. It's the kind of thing people will still have on their desk a year later, looking even better than the day they made it.

Kokedama Workshop

This is the Japanese art of creating "moss balls"—basically a sculptural, soil-free way to display plants. It's tactile, meditative, and surprisingly satisfying. Your team will hand-shape soil around plant roots, wrap it in beautiful sheet moss, and tie it with twine to create a hanging living sculpture. It's different, it's beautiful, and it's a conversation starter.

These can sit on a dish or hang as living art. Either way, they're stunning and completely unique—no two ever look the same. People love the hands-on process, and the finished pieces have that handmade quality that feels special.

Paint Your Plant Workshop

Our signature painting workshop is "Paint That Plant"—our artist Nina brings a stunning plant (think a dramatic Monstera, elegant Bird of Paradise, or lush tropical foliage), sets it up as your subject, and guides everyone through creating their own botanical artwork on canvas. It's relaxed, social, and designed so that even people who swear they "can't paint" end up with something they're genuinely proud of.

We provide professional-quality canvases (30cm x 40cm), acrylic paints, brushes, and step-by-step guidance. Nina walks everyone through the process—everyone's painting the same subject, so she can guide you through it together, but every finished piece looks completely different. It's botanical art that reflects your own style.

Want something fully tailored? We've been known to run custom painting workshops for groups who want an experience that's completely theirs. Want to paint your company logo or mascot? A portrait of the bride and groom? A scenic Waiheke vineyard view? Your team's favourite building or a beloved pet? We can make it happen. Custom setup fee of $150 applies (minimum 10 people), and we'll work with you to create the perfect subject for your group.

What to Expect

These workshops have a different vibe than your standard team event. People get into the making process—whether it's layering soil in glass, wrapping moss around roots, or putting brush to canvas. Conversations flow naturally while hands are busy, and by the end everyone's comparing creations and showing off what they've made.

We've run these for corporate teams wanting something beyond the usual options, hens parties looking for a creative celebration, and groups who just wanted to try something new together. The most common thing we hear? People are surprised by how much they enjoyed it and how good their finished piece looks.

Whether your team includes plant enthusiasts or total beginners, everyone leaves with something they're proud to take home. Plus, you've learned skills you can use again—terrarium care, kokedama techniques, or painting botanicals—which makes it feel like time well spent.
